Qom Birds Garden to be reopened after lockdown

Head of Veterinary Administration Office of Qom announced that Qom Birds Garden to be reopened following easing lockdown restrictions. 

Mehdi Rafiei made the remarks in reference to the outbreak of influenza in the city’s Bird Garden.

He also rejected as fake news some media claims on the extermination of three thousand birds in the Bird Garden.

About 600 birds were hygienically collected, exterminated, and buried, and the unit was completely disinfected, Rafiei elaborated on the issue.

He went on to say that the complex enjoys the necessary permits from the environment and veterinary offices and health standards observed there while adding that a technical management team is present at the Birds Garden round the clock.

The head of the Veterinary Administration Office of Qom Province stated that the municipality has received all permits, legal procedures, veterinary and environmental inquiries for the activities of this unit, and there has been no violation in obtaining related licenses.

Qom Birds Garden is the second largest of its kind in Iran. This garden is also ranked third in the country in terms of species diversity.

The garden with an area of 70,000 square meters is located in Mofid Square and Shahid Avini Boulevard.

Construction of retaining walls, footpaths and pavements, entrance building and WCs, waterfall and pond, bird cages, and tropical cages are among the measures taken in this project.
