‘Qom surveillance cameras to become smart’

Director of Qom Municipality Smart Traffic Control Center has announced that a smart system will be installed on the city’s surveillance cameras.

Law enforcement is currently implemented with the operators running the surveillance cameras, but as the smart system installed, violations will be detected automatically, Vahid Borzuee said in an interview on Saturday.

Borzuee noted that we are planning to record maximum violations by installing artificial intelligence on surveillance cameras.

In addition to unauthorized speed and entering congestion charging zone, several other violations are now being recorded by the cameras, he explained.

He went on to say that making cameras smart is aimed at increasing safety on the roads, expressing hope that the citizens’ traffic behaviors will be improved soon by the effective and timely law enforcement.

Furthermore, the municipal official noted that one of the programs of Qom Municipality Smart Traffic Control Center is the optimal use of existing infrastructures.

He explained that proper infrastructures have recently been implemented in the field of smart traffic in Qom that should be used optimally.

Earlier, Abbas Zakerian, Qom Municipality Deputy of Transportation and Traffic had stated that one of the significant plans of the municipality in 2021 is the development of traffic violation recording systems across the city.
