Commemoration ceremony of National Firefighters’ Day held in Qom

On the occasion of National Firefighters’ Day, a commemoration ceremony was held with the presence of a group of dedicated forces of Qom Municipality Fire and Safety Services on Wednesday.

The ceremony was also attended by the Deputy of Qom Municipality Urban Services, ‌ Managing Director of Qom Municipality Fire and Safety Services, and the staff and operational forces of the Fire Department.

At present, the number of fire stations has reached more than 20, said the spokesman of Qom Municipality Fire and Safety Services Department in the ceremony, adding Qom has the world standard in terms of the number of fire stations.

On the other hand, Hamid Karimi referred to Qom Fire Department’s equipment deficiencies, saying the department is still far from reaching the international standards in terms of equipment.

Earlier, the mayor of Qom extended his congratulations on the arrival of National Day of Fire Fighting and Safety Services to the firefighters of Qom Municipality in a message released on Tuesday.

Dr. Seyyed Morteza Saghaiannejad commemorated the bravery and sacrifice of those who give up their lives in the line of duty, saying this occasion is an opportunity to pay tribute to members of the fire and rescue service who are devoted to protecting the public.

September 29 was observed as the National Firefighters’ Day in the Iranian calendar year 1379 (March 2000-March 2001), 20 years after a tragic incident during the Iran-Iraq war.
