Qom, Iran’s 1st standard metropolis in fire stations: Official

The head of Qom Municipality Development and Civil Engineering Organization says the city of Qom is the first metropolis in the country that enjoys a world standard in terms of the number of fire stations per capita.

In the last few years, with the opening of 6 new fire stations, the number of stations in the city has reached 24, Abbas Jafari said in an interview.

Referring to the significant progress of the fire department in recent years, Jafari stated that Qom city council and the municipality’s officials have made many plans to upgrade the equipment, agents, and facilities of the Qom Fire Department over the past few years.

He also touched up the recent increase in the number of firefighters and agents, reiterating that since 2016, 131 people were recruited in the Qom Municipality Fire Department and the number of the organization’s forces has reached 522.

He pointed that due to the 20-year retirement period of the forces, a request was made to recruit 100 firefighters by 202 so that we do not face a shortage of manpower.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the head of Qom Municipality Development and Civil Engineering Organization noted that having a central station is one of the city’s vital needs, which will soon be met by purchasing a land area of 8,000 meters on the Great Prophet Boulevard.

The central station, with 2,000 meters of headquarters and 6,000 square meters of sheds and vehicles and firefighting equipment, is unique in the country and its construction operations will begin in the very near future, he added.
