8 parks in Qom to be adapted for people with disabilities

Head of Qom municipality’s Urban Development Plans and Environmental Adaptation projects says eight parks will experimentally be adapted in districts of Qom for the disabled people.

Referring to the importance of adapting the streets for the disabled, Mohsen Sadeghi Amini stated that the deputy for metropolitan urban planning is in charge of adaptation at the municipal complex.

He noted that recently this issue has been emphasized in the National Adaptation Headquarters, as well.

The municipality official reiterated that major steps have been taken in Qom in this regard while adding that the past year Qom won first place in adaptation in the country at the Martyr Rajaei Festival.

He went on to say that but we are still far from the ideal situation and the measures taken by the municipality should be continued.

Amini asserted that the municipality’s construction budget has been spent on sidewalks’ design and adaptation for several years.

We also asked for budget increment this year, which we hope to be ratified with the cooperation of the City Council’s urban planning and transportation commissions, he said.

Amini pointed out that last year, we prepared a location distribution map for the disabled in Qom with the help of the Welfare and Martyr Foundation and mapped the distribution of service devices, which considered a good move in targeting the budget.
