The chairman of Qom Islamic City Council says the problem of air pollution, as one of the problems of big cities, is directly related to the quality and quantity of public transportation.
Hossein Eslami made the remarks at the 67th official and public meeting of the Qom Islamic City Council.
Referring to National Transportation Day, he stated that clean air is one of the advantages of high-quality transportation systems.
Expressing hope for a change in traffic behavior and culture in the city, he added that in order to increase people’s use of public transport and reduce private car traffic, the quality and quantity of public transport should be increased.
The cultural work should also be put on the agenda of the municipal transport deputy and the civil and transport commission of the city council, he reiterated.
Furthermore at the end of the meeting, the Qom city managers appreciated the exemplary drivers of the public transport fleet at the Islamic City Council on the occasion of National Transportation Day which falls on December 17
