Qom Mayor issues message on National Transportation Day

The mayor of Qom, Dr. Seyyed Morteza Saghaiannejad issued a message on the occasion of  National Transportation Day in Iran, which falls on December 16th.

Issuing a message, Saghaiannejad honored this day and praised the activists in this field.

Transportation is one of the inevitable necessities of every human society, which causes the dynamics of economic and social development, especially in big cities, he wrote.

Transportation is considered a tool to achieve sustainable development through improving the functions of the urban structure and is considered a central issue in creating social justice in cities, he added.

“Economic development is also dependent on the development of transportation infrastructure to a certain extent, and the issue of environmental sustainability as well as the safety of citizens’ lives is also related to the infrastructure of urban life.”

Therefore, based on the 1414 vision, Qom Municipality introduced Qom as a safe, smooth and smart city in traffic matters. During the past years, in the path of macro-planning, creating order and integration in city traffic management and reducing environmental problems, including air pollution, creating safety on roads and reducing urban accidents, studying and investigating non-motorized transportation patterns and creating facilities for it has taken valuable steps, the letter read.
