The mayor of Qom issued a message to mark the country’s National Day of University Student which falls on December 7 every year.
In a message, Dr. Seyyed Morteza Saghaiannejad congratulated the National Day of University Student to followers of science and knowledge.
The greatest achievement of science for humans is to create the basis for gaining awareness, an awareness through which, in addition to knowledge, a person’s vision is also grown and keeps away from crude thinking and irrational action; If this approach spreads in the lives of the people of a society, we can see that the society moves towards progress, he wrote.
Universities and the enthusiastic presence of young people in them, there are grounds for the realization of this in a scientific environment, it is possible to acquire knowledge and insight for an important part of society, he remarked.
The occasion commemorates the anniversary of the murder of three students of the University of Tehran on December 7, 1953, by the Iranian police forces in the deposed and US-backed Pahlavi era.
Annually, student movements at various universities across Iran hold gatherings and seminars to observe the occasion as a symbol of the struggle of Iranian students against dictatorship.
