200,000 m2 adapted walkway executed for people with disability in Qom

The Technical and Civil Deputy of Qom Municipality says Qom city is on the path of becoming a better place for people with disability.

Abbas Helvaizadeh made the remarks pointing to the attention of Qom Municipality in the design and implementation of construction projects to the needs of adaptation for people with disability.

By presenting a performance report of the measures taken by the municipality in recent years, he pointed to the ongoing projects of this deputy in order to adapt buildings, roads and parks.

During the past years, there has been a change of approach in the design and implementation of construction projects in terms of adaptation for people with disabilities, which gradually prepares Qom for the presence of these persons, he remarked.

In total, the adaptation of 21 sidewalks was put on the agenda, some of them, including the sidewalk of 19 De, the sidewalk of Amin and Ayatollah Sadoughi Boulevard, and some of these projects are also being done, he noted.

Adaptation of 17 parks and 12 buildings and structures is one of the other actions of this deputy, considering the wheelchair path, the special path for the blind, the construction of special toilets for the disabled, and appropriate access are among the actions that have been predicted in the designs, he added.

He considered the adaptation of city roads, including sidewalks, as one of the most important measures of Qom Municipality in the path of creating a disabled-friendly city, and concluded, “So far, 200,000 square meters of sidewalks have been designed and implemented based on this.”
