Municipalities law should be revised: Qom mayor

The mayor of Qom has said that the law of municipalities needs to be reviewed and revised in a specialized manner and at the meetings of metropolises.

Dr. Seyyed Morteza Saghaiannejad made the comments at the 59th official and public meeting of the Qom Islamic Council, which was held in the meeting hall of the Shahid Bakri building of the city council.

Stressing reviewing the sustainable income law of municipalities, the mayor noted that it should be done in a specialized manner and in meetings of metropolises because if the municipality is in trouble, it will have a direct impact on the people’s livelihood.

Today, we need strong management in the urban area, because our performance has a direct impact on people’s lives, he reiterated.

He pointed out the weaknesses of the law on sustainable revenues of municipalities and added, “As long as we move in the direction of governmentalizing municipalities and reducing the powers of councils, the problems will not be solved and we must change our view on urban management.”
