Internet of Things to be launched in Qom

The head of the Information and Communication Technology Organization of Qom Municipality announced that the set up of the Internet of Things in Qom is one of the projects of this organization.

Ali Momen Hejazi made the announcement while emphasizing the need to move towards a smart city.

To have a smart city, we need synergy and cooperation of all government and private institutions and bodies in the city, he noted.

He considered urban Wi-Fi as an effective factor in the path of smartening and electronic payments and added, “We should know that from the legal point of view, the municipality is not allowed to provide Wi-Fi internet in public roads and places, and it can only provide a part of the municipal services in the parks.”

The municipality’s ICT unit has a memorandum of understanding with some telecommunication operators to provide such services at the parks, and if the need to provide services in parks is felt, necessary measures will be taken, he stated.

He then pointed to the creation and development of the Internet of Things communication infrastructure in the city and said, “The Internet of Things refers to any physical device that can exchange information with a unique identifier in a network without human interaction, which is one of the projects of the Fava organization in the current year.”

Momin Hejazi elaborated on the purpose of implementing the Internet of Things communication infrastructure in the city and concluded that with the execution of this project, we are looking to implement services such as controlling the electricity consumption in parks, irrigation of green spaces and transportation, which will be an effective step in the smartening of Qom city.
