Qom Municipality gears up to host travelers on June 4/5

Different plans and programs have been proposed for mid-Khordad (June 4/5) that experts and managers in the field of municipality transport and traffic are reviewing and identifying their strengths and weaknesses, Qom Municipality Deputy of Transportation and Traffic says.

Masoud Tabibi made the remarks referring to the upcoming June 4/5 ceremonies and Three-day holidays.

This year, due to the coincidence of the Decade of benevolence, the June4/5  ceremonies and the calm situation in terms of the coronavirus outbreak, the city of Qom will be one of the most important destinations for pilgrims and travelers, he stated.

He asserted that one of the traffic problems during the holidays in Qom is the accumulation of traffic and its direction to the central core of the city and around the holy shrine of Hazrat Masoumeh (AS).

Due to the limited capacity of parking lots and the possibility of blocking the passages, it is necessary to consider the plans and suggestions of related experts for the distribution of traffic and possibly the management of caravans to the central area, he added.
Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Rouhollah Mousavi Khomeini, better known as Imam Khomeini, passed away on June 4, 1989, at the age of 87. Iranians and devotees of Imam Khomeini, the revered founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, every year commemorate the anniversary of his departure.
Also, The mourning ceremonies for Imam Khomeini coincide with the anniversary of June 5, 1963 protests, which are remembered as a prelude to the revolution’s victory. The protests broke out after Imam Khomeini was arrested for delivering a historic speech in the holy city of Qom, where he lambasted the “capitulation law” granting immunity to Americans on Iranian soil.
