Qom mayor highlights improving citizenship culture in decreasing urban costs

The mayor of Qom has emphasized the significant role of improving the citizenship culture in reducing the city’s costs.

Dr. Seyyed Morteza Saghaeiannejad made the remarks in the meeting of Qom municipality’s Cultural, Social and Sports Organization council which was held on Tuesday.

The most important mission of the cultural, social, and sports organization is to work in the field of citizenship culture, said Saghaeiannejad.

He also stressed that the cultural, social, and sports organization, like the municipality, should have a 5-year plan.

The mayor touched upon the cultural capacities of Qom, saying there should be special attention to small cultural centers to make them align with the organization’s policies and plans.

He further underscored the need to promote the citizenship culture in reducing the city’s costs, adding that every small change in the culture of citizenship, such as waste segregation and garbage collection can have a great impact on reducing the costs of the city.

Over the last six years, Qom municipality has taken several measures, including various cultural projects, to inform and educate citizens in the field of waste segregation.

In this regard, the number of waste booths has been increased from 13 to 49 over a period of 5 years.
