Qom shuts down parks as new COVID-19 cases hit all-time high

The head of the Parks and Green Space Organization of Qom Municipality announced the closure of the entrances to the city’s parks as Health Ministry confirmed 13,890 new cases of infection with the coronavirus in the past 48 hours, the biggest record since the beginning of the outbreak.

Referring to the coronavirus alert in Qom, Payam Javadian stated that according to the announcement of the headquarters for combating the coronavirus, Qom is in the red situation and some public places will be closed to prevent the gatherings.

All of the capitals of Iran’s provinces were categorized as ‘red zones’ with a high risk of coronavirus epidemic as the number of daily infections in the country has hit an all-time high.

Many of those cities were in the blue category during the new Iranian year’s holidays at the beginning of spring.

Health Ministry officials have warned that the number of new coronavirus cases is skyrocketing, calling on people to abide by the health protocols to deal with the fourth wave of the pandemic.
