The director general of the Parks and Green Space Organization of Qom Municipality has declared that the organization will create a bank of flower and plant seed.
Due to the fact that the Production and Research Center of the Parks Organization needs a lot of annual seeds to produce flowers and plants, these seeds should be collected from the city and transferred to the seed bank, Payam Javadian said on Thursday.
Collecting the seeds can be done in different seasons, Javadian stated, adding that proper gardens have been selected so that the experts can collect the suitable seeds.
He also stressed the localization of the plants used in the city, saying one of its advantages is to produce and use the plants suitable for the climate of Qom.
The number of new seeds collected is about 35 special species that meet a large part of the annual needs, the municipal official noted.
The species include pot marigold, gazania, rudbeckia, marguerite daisy, catharanthus, gaillardia, etc. he said.
The director general of the Parks and Green Space Organization of Qom Municipality announced on September that the new phase of a study plan surveying the compatibility of plant species with the Qom climate was begun.
The first phase of the project was carried out during two three-year periods from 2010 by the Parks Organization in cooperation with the Agricultural Jihad Research Center and more than 100 plant species were studied.
