Qom Municipality develops local model to attract pilgrims, official says

The CEO of Urban Renewal Organization of Qom Municipality has stressed developing a local model for attracting tourists and pilgrims to the city of Qom.

Reviewing the models used in religious cities, like Mashhad, Karbala and Najaf, and resolving their problems, we can develop a local model, said Alireza Khaki on the sidelines of visiting members of the Qom Research Foundation on Wednesday.

Khaki also touched upon the restoration and protection of historical sites in Qom, emphasizing the significance of suing the citizens’ participation and the scientific capacity of the university and foundations in this regard.

The measures taken to revive Qom’s historical sites were aimed at attracting tourists as a major driver of urban revitalization and regeneration, he added.

Moreover, the municipal official highlighted the importance of renovation in the city of Qom, calling for the members of the urban management to support the implementation of renewal plans.

Earlier, the chairman of the Islamic city Council of Qom had appreciated Qom Municipality’s efforts to preserve and protect the historical identity and background of the city.

Abdollah Jalali emphasized that the preservation and renovation of the historical context is a principle, calling for the development of a comprehensive plan for the protection of the city’s historical sites.
