The seventh specialized meeting of the heads of waste management organizations began in Rezvan meeting hall of Qom Municipality with the presence of the managers of 18 metropolises.
Speaking at the beginning of the meeting, the head of the Waste Management Organization of Qom Municipality said it is mainly held to coordinate and create unity of procedure in executive affairs among the managers of waste management organizations in metropolitan areas.
All the world’s cities and metropolises have directly dealt with the issue of waste management, so it is one of the most important environmental concerns for all countries, Seyyed Abdullah Mirebrahimi noted.
Significant importance of citizen participation in waste management
Abbas Zakerian, deputy of municipal services of Qom municipality also referred to the significant role of the citizens’ increasing participation in the waste management, adding that Qom Municipality has recently implemented cultural programs to increase the culture of citizenship in taking responsibility for maintaining the city’s cleanliness.
Special waste management center to be set up
Attending the meeting, the adviser to the Minister of Interior said as the minister emphasized the issues of urban transportation and waste management, a special base will be set up in these two areas in the near future.
Majid Tahouri went on to say that with the establishment of this base, we will see a quantitative and qualitative improvement of waste management as well as the field of traffic transportation in the country.
