Dr. Saghaiannejad stresses development of ‘Qom Day’ cultural events

The mayor of Qom has emphasized that the cultural activities of “Qom Day” should be strengthened in various dimensions.

Speaking at a news conference on Wednesday, Dr. Seyyed Morteza Saghaiannejad announced that 70 special programs will be performed in different parts of the municipality to commemorate the Day of Qom.

Dr. Saghaiannejad put emphasis on improving the quality of “Qom Day” programs, saying we are trying to perform the programs in both international and national dimensions by the next year.

Elsewhere in his remarks, elaborating on the history of the cultural capitals in the Islamic world, he stated that the municipality is seeking to make the city of Qom the cultural capital of the Islamic world by 2026.

He went on to say that we call on the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance to earn the title of the cultural capital of the Islamic world for the city of Qom by consulting the heads of the Islamic countries.

Thus, Qom can present a new Islamic civilization and its huge capacities on the international level, the mayor added.

He finally touched upon the history and reasons for naming “Qom Day”, and noted that in 2019, the Provincial Public Culture Council named the anniversary of the arrival of Hazrat Fatemeh Masoumeh (AS) in Qom, coinciding with the 23rd of Rabi al-Awal, as the ‘Day of Qom’.
