The acting head of transportation and traffic deputy of Qom municipality has announced that 45 smart intersections with sound warning systems will be designed for the blind’s crossings.
Dr. Masoud Tabibi touched upon the problems of blind people for using public transportation and traveling in the city, saying that different organizations need to pay more attention to the blind and disabled community.
Crossing the intersections is one of the problems of the blind people, Tabibi stated, adding Qom Municipality has prioritized to implement smart intersections with sound warning systems in the very near future.
When crossing the intersections, the blind people will be alerted by the sound of a traffic light and the end of the street crossing time, he noted.
Elsewhere in his remarks, he stressed the blind’s problems in using taxis and said we must be able to inform the taxi driver of the condition of the person requesting the taxi with a special indicator or warning.
In its efforts to provide services and facilities for all individuals in the society, Qom Municipality is seeking to implement special plans for the blind and disabled citizens by the end of the year, said Tayebi in the cultural and sports festival of the World Sight Day and White Cane which was held last week.
