Interior Minister issues Qom mayor’s decree

Iran’s interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi issued a decree on September 2 to formally appoint Dr. Seyyed Morteza Saghaiannejad as the mayor of Qom.

Last month, the members of the fifth term of Qom Islamic City Council voted for Dr. Saghaiannejad and reinstated him as the Qom mayor for the third time.

Having served as the mayor of Isfahan for 12 years, Saghaiannejad was elected as the Qom mayor in 2014 by the members of the fourth term of Qom Islamic City Council and two years later, as the fifth City Council was formed, he remained in his position with 13 votes.

Completing the semi-finished projects in Qom, increasing 6 square meters of green space per capita, constructing several non-coplanar intersections, completing traffic corridors, building a 1,000-hectare park, bird garden, telesiege, Ghadir amusement park, etc. are just part of Dr. Saghaiannejad’s valuable services over the last 6 years.

It is wort mentioning that he is the 17th mayor after the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Qom, who has been elected to this position three times by the Islamic City Council of Qom.

He was born in Isfahan in 1952 and has 40 years of experience as a member of the faculty of Isfahan University of Technology.
