Qom Municipality inaugurates cultural & historical centers improvement projects

Following the ‘Qom on the path of development’ plan, the inauguration ceremony of improving Qom cultural and historical centers was held in the presence of provincial officials and city managers on Wednesday.

In a ceremony attended by the governor, deputy civil engineer, the mayor, the chairman and members of the Islamic Council of the city, the head of the directorate of cultural heritage, tourism and handicrafts of Qom province, the deputy of the holy shrine of Hazrat Masoumeh (AS), the board of trustees of historical bazaars and other city officials, the executive operation of improving the cultural and historical centers of Qom began.

The projects include the launch of flooring the cultural-historical axis of the old bazaar, the new bazaar, the cultural axis of Shah Hamzeh (AS), and the first phase of the Eshqali axis.

Qom shoe market, as another cultural and historical axis, also started to be floored on the fifth week of the inaugurations of the municipality’s urban projects in the framework of ‘Qom on the path of development’ plan.

Reportedly, the flooring operation of the old bazaar began in an area of 2400 square meters at the end of 2020 and finished in mid-June 2021 with a credit of 20 billion rials.

The plan to improve the new bazaar was also started in early 2021 and completed in more than a month in an area of 600 square meters.

Moreover, the cultural axis of Shah Hamzeh (AS) was launched to be floored with a credit of 24 billion rials. The project started in October 2020 and was put into operation in July 2021 in an area of 2,000 square meters.

16 billion and 500 million Rials was similarly spent on the flooring of historical and cultural axis of Eshqali which was initiated in an area of one thousand square meters in October, 2020 and ended in May, 2021.

Finally, on the fifth week of the inaugurations of the municipality’s urban projects, the flooring operation of the Qom shoe market started with a credit of 6 billion and 800 million rials in an area of 500 square meters and is scheduled to be put into operation by September of this year.

Collecting the entire asphalt layer of the areas along with the relevant unsuitable infrastructures, organizing the status of underground facilities, consolidating the bed with different sanding layers, executing a ready-mixed concrete layer with a characteristic strength of at least 120 kg / cm and a thickness of at least 10 cm, and paving with the use of marble are among the main goals of the inaugurated projects.

It is worth mentioning that these projects have the appropriate capacity to attract tourists, develop recreating the central fabric of the city and improve the quality of the urban environment.
