The head of the Waste Management Organization of Qom Municipality announced the distribution of fabric bags among customers of Hamshahri department stores.
Referring to the increasing consumption of plastic bags, Seyyed Abdullah Mirebrahimi said that it is necessary to create a culture to remove the plastic.
Due to the increasing busyness of people and the distance from shopping malls to their place of residence, they often tend to buy all the products they need en masse, this puts a large amount of plastic in the hands of the customers which is a great danger to the environment, he added.
Stressing that hat we should start from ourselves to preserve nature and reduce the use of plastic, Mirebrahimi stated that we should not forget that in the past, the use of paper bags and baskets to carry fruit and other materials was common, and now this custom can be renewed for replacing plastic bags.
Pointing to the preparation of fabric bags by the Qom Municipality and their distribution in Hamshahri chain stores, he noted that this appropriate and worthy action shows the municipality’s efforts to promote the culture of removing the plastic and using fabric bags.
