Saghaiannejad stresses need to increase authority of urban management in 7th development plan

The mayor of Qom has emphasized the increase of urban management authority in the 7th development plan of the country.

Dr. Seyyed Morteza Saghaiannejad made the comments while talking to reporters on the sidelines of the joint meeting of mayors and heads of city councils of metropolitan cities and provincial centers of the country.

If the authority of urban management is seen well and in its right place, it is clear where the task of urban management is and it should be accountable, he said.

The most important goal of holding this meeting is to determine the budget of the country’s 1402, and efforts have been made to raise and follow up the demands of the cities as the main implementers of the programs in the cities, he asserted.

He emphasized recognizing the challenges of previous programs, adding, “Until today, 6 programs have been implemented in the country, and if we want to evaluate it with a positive view, only 30% of them have been implemented, while in cities like Qom and Isfahan, more than 90% of the programs have been implemented.”

In the 7th plan, nothing should be reduced from the budget of the cities, and the process of reducing the share of the cities in each plan should be stopped and the share and position of the cities should be determined correctly, he said.
