Public fleet should be expanded in correspondence with travel demand

The head of the Construction and Transportation Commission of Qom Islamic City Council stressed the expansion of the city’s public fleet in correspondence with travel demand.

Seyyed Mohammad Hossein Dehnad made the remarks referring to the development of a comprehensive transportation plan for the city of Qom with an all-inclusive and forward-looking view.

The increase in the volume of traffic and the decrease in the service level of the roads and the increase in traffic nodes are some of the issues that the city of Qom is currently facing, he said.

During recent years, the share of using private cars has increased from 22% in 2006 to more than 45% at the end of 2021, he noted.

The development of rail systems, the balanced development of non-level intersections, the development of public fleets, the modification of traffic behavior of citizens to use the capacity of current roads, and the smartization of roads are among the priority issues in the comprehensive plan of transportation and traffic of the Islamic City Council of Qom, he added.
