Niamey-Qom relations herald new chapter between two Muslim countries

The Mayor of Niamey, Niger, expressed his satisfaction with the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the two cities, saying the relations between the city of Niamey and the holy city of Qom is the beginning of the exchange of new experience between the two Muslim countries.

In a meeting with Dr. Eslami, chairman and members of the Qom City Council, Oumarou Dogari Moumouni stressed cooperation between cities, especially the city of Niamey and the holy city of Qom.

Cooperation between the two cities began in 1976 through seminaries, and many contracts have been signed since then, Niamey’s mayor stated.

He considered the position of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Niger and added,  “The relationship between Iran and Niger is in different appropriate areas and we hope that this relationship will be established between the cities and important work will be done.”

Elaborating on the purpose of the meeting with Qom city managers, the mayor noted, “This relationship can be very extensive and we can use the experiences of the two countries and cities and be good advisors to each other.”

He went on to say that common religion helps us to achieve comprehensive cooperation and brotherhood.

Niger can cooperate in all aspects and there are no restrictions on communication between the cities of the two countries, and we can open a joint cooperation office at this meeting and start working, he concluded.
