More than 26.5 million m2 of green space in Qom

The director of Qom Municipality Parks and Green Space Organization stated that we have 26.5 million square meters of green space in Qom, 95% of which is maintained by specialized contractors.

Payam Javadian made the remarks touching upon the per capita green space in Qom.

Green space per capita is the result of dividing the total green space per square meter by the population, which in 2015 was about 13.8 square meters per citizen, which has reached 20.5 per capita with taking special measures, he said.

He noted that this green space, including urban parks, forest space, and green space areas, was at the disposal of the municipality, and that development is currently being carried out on the basis of sustainable development.

Qom standard is about 24 square meters for each citizen that we distance  3.5 m2 from it which we hope to achieve with the follow-up of the city council and municipality, he added.

The director of Qom Municipality Parks and Green Space Organization said, “The development of forest areas is based on treated wastewater and new irrigation methods and increase productivity in urban management.”

It’s been planning to add 1.5 square meters per year, which we have increased from 13.8 to 20.5, although the population has also increased, he reiterated.
