The Deputy Minister of Culture and Social Affairs of the Center for Urban and Rural Planning Studies of the Organization of Municipalities says as part of the popular campaign, 500 million saplings will be planted over a 14-year period.
Hojjatollah Gholam-Ali made the remarks in reference to the implementation of “Plant a Tree of Friendship” campaign, while delivering speech in the 26th specialized meeting of the mangers of organizations of “Prospective and Urban Green Space” of the country’s metropolises in the Rezvan Hall of Qom Municipality.
He stated that since the begining of the current year, he Organization of Municipalities and Villages for the Development of Arboriculture has held several meetings with natural resources and the Forest Organization of the country.
The planting of 500 million saplings in urban areas, villages and natural areas in a period of 14 years is predicted in the framework of the national campaign of “Plant a Tree of Friendship”, he noted.
This campaign requires raising people’s awareness on the importance of developing and maintaining green space.
The municipality official said that at least one thousand saplings would be planted in memory of the martyrs of the Islamic Revolution.
