The mayor considered Qom day an opportunity to better introduce the city to the people of Qom, the country and the world.
According to the Shahr News, at the meeting of municipal directors, S.Morteza Saghaeian Nejad said: “by the initiative of the City Council and with the approval of the General Council of Culture, the anniversary of the arrival of Fatimah bint Musa has been named Qom Day”.
“Qom day is an opportunity to talk about a city with seven thousand years history that has played a very important role in the developments of the country over the past 12 centuries”, he added.
Mayor Qom noted that naming a day is not enough for a city that has become a center of Shi’ism. It takes work to introduce and identify the city of Qom throughout the year.
Noting that Qom municipality should not be alone in doing this task, Saghaeian Nejad said: “Qom municipality should work hard and other executive organizations should also arrive on the scene.”
He pointed to the largest religious school of the Islamic world in Qom and said: “it is important to us how well people know about the unique features of Qom”.
The mayor of Qom called for Knowledge oriented programs on Qom day and holding conferences and events that would make the city more familiar to the public.
