The Managing Director of Qom Municipality Waste Management Organization says the law on supporting investment in normal waste management was approved last year, and now its formulation is underway.
According to the law, all activities in the field of waste management, from the production stage to the final step of disposal and aftercare, are part of the duties and responsibilities of this organization, Seyyed Abdullah Mirebrahimi stated.
The issue of product reuse is defined in several areas; first of all, the issue is that the product itself should be reusable in terms of ingredients, and for this, it is necessary to create appropriate capacity in the country’s industries, he stressed.
He then added that the legal capacities related to waste management would be improved and created.
A law was defined last year to support the private sector’s investment in normal waste management, according to which the producing and importing industries pay one-tenth of the value of the goods as an environmental fee to the environmental fund, he noted.
The municipality official concluded that if they create the possibility of return or waste process, this amount will be returned, and otherwise, this cost will be considered as a facility for the industries and activities of this field.
