The mayor of Qom has emphasized the need to pay more attention to research issues in urban management in order to solve the problems of the city and its citizens.
Speaking at the 19th public session of the Qom City Council, Dr. Seyyed Morteza Saghaeiannejad referred to Iran’s national week of research and said there are 600 active research centers in Qom.
The research centers of the Qom Municipality and the Qom City Council should focus on practical issues and solving the problems of the city and its citizens, Saghaeiannejad stated.
He also emphasized the significant role the educational system plays in institutionalizing research among students.
Not using the scientific and research abilities of professors and universities is one of the weaknesses of our educational system, he noted.
The mayor went on to say that this defect in the education system is a reason for the inefficiency of many graduates in being attracted to the labor market.
To solve the problem, there should be paid more attention to research and Institutionalizing a research-oriented approach among students, he finally reiterated.
Iran is marking its national research and technology week which started from December 11 and will continue until December 17.
