The mayor of Qom has stressed the need to use the city’s capacities to expand Iran-Australia relations in his meeting with the Australian Ambassador to Tehran on Tuesday.
If the West’s attitude towards the Islamic Republic changes, the field of cooperation will definitely expand, said Dr. Seyyed Morteza Saghaeiannejad.
Lyndall Sachs, for her part, called for exchanging views on possible opportunities for cooperation with Qom, including trade and investment issues.
She also noted that our trip to Qom is a great opportunity to get acquainted with the activities of its institutions and organizations so that good economic and cultural relations can be established in the future.
Elsewhere in her remarks, the ambassador referred to the presence of elite Iranian students in Australia, adding Iranians living in Australia are among the elite and educated groups and have had a positive impact on Australian society.
Furthermore, Sachs met with the President of Al-Mustafa International University, the head of Al-Zahra Society and other officials.
Following the request of the Australian Embassy to meet with the Mayor of Qom in order to discuss several issues, Lyndall Sachs, and her deputy Dennis Carney visited Dr. Saghaiannejad in the municipality building of Qom on Tuesday.
