The Australian Ambassador to Tehran Lyndall Sachs met the mayor of Qom Dr. Seyyed Morteza Saghaeiannejad on Tuesday.
Following the request of the Australian Embassy to meet with the Mayor of Qom in order to discuss several issues, Lyndall Sachs, and her deputy Dennis Carney visited Dr. Saghaiannejad in the municipality building of Qom.
Australian officials called for exchanging views on possible opportunities for cooperation with Qom, including trade and investment issues.
Qom mayor also welcomed the Australian Ambassador to Iran, stressing the municipality’s readiness to increase cooperation.
He further referred to the historical, cultural, artistic features as well as the various capacities of the city of Qom.
It is worth mentioning that Lyndall Sachs had earlier met Mojtaba Zonnour, the head of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Iranian Parliament, who is also Qom representative to the parliament.
In his meeting with Australia’s ambassador to Iran, the Qom lawmaker voiced the country’s tendency for the development of all-out ties with Canberra, underlining the significance of the two sides’ Parliament in improving relations.
Sachs, for her part, welcomed the expansion of Parliamentarian ties with Iran as an initial step to boosting cooperation in other sectors.
