Managing director of Qom city train organization has announced that the third rail of Qom metro will be electrified in the near future.
Electrifying the third line will make great progress in the Qom metro project, said Mansour Darvishi in an interview on Sunday.
Referring to the installation of the third rail, Darvishi stated that in order to operate the first phase of Qom metro, about 18 km of the third rail and its accessories were included in the project in September 2021.
Two weeks ago, the operation of installing the third rail in the tunnel route started immediately after the completion of the pavement, he added.
He emphasized the contractor’s commitment in doing the installation process, saying they will be able to install 250 to 300 meters of the third rail daily.
Qom metro has 2 lines (A and B), line A is 14.8 km long with a forecast of 14 stations. This line is divided into 2 phases and the first phase is 6.4 km long, between Keshavarz Square and Martyr Motahari Square. Line B, with a length of 18 km, has 16 stations, but due to the lack of funding, its operation is not prioritized.
The Qom metro project began in 2011 with a tender of 8600 billion rials, which is the largest tender in the history of Qom.
