The mayor of Qom says the municipality is seeking to make the city of Qom the cultural capital of the Islamic world in 2026 by implementing codified plans.
Dr. Seyyed Morteza Saghaghiannejad made the remark in the ceremony of ringing the bell of ‘Qom Day’ in Ababsir exceptional school on Sunday.
When Qom is transformed into the cultural capital of the Islamic world, a much more favorable platform will be created to introduce the capacities and heritage of this city to the world, Saghaghiannejad stated.
He also stressed that in order for Qom to be on the level of the cultural capital of the Islamic world, we should try to make the culture of self-sacrifice and martyrdom, and other spiritual and value characteristics in this city different from other cities.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the mayor noted that the Day of Qom is a great opportunity to properly introduce the city’s capacities to the citizens and more than 25 million pilgrims who travel to Qom annually.
Moreover, he referred to the arrival of Hazrat Fatemeh Masoumeh (AS) in Qom as a turning point in the city’s development.
In 2019, the Provincial Public Culture Council named the anniversary of the arrival of Hazrat Fatemeh Masoumeh (AS) in Qom, coinciding with the 23rd of Rabi al-Awal, as the ‘Day of Qom’.
