In a message released on Wednesday, the mayor of Qom has extended his congratulations on the occasion of the ‘Islamic Unity Week’ and the birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) to Muslims around the world.
Dr. Seyyed Morteza Saghaiannejad emphasized that the ‘Unity Week’ promises empathy and solidarity to achieve great Islamic goals.
The great prophet of Islam, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and his progeny are the cornerstone of unity in the Muslim world and the human society, said Saghaiannejad.
He went on to say that the message of unity is an indication of the fact that Muslims need to rise over their superficial differences and be vigilant about the malevolent intentions of the external forces.
Elsewhere in his remarks, he referred to the significance of systematic modeling in Islam, saying that the social and individual behavior of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), which is the best criterion for convergence and unity, can be a great model for the contemporary world.
Declared by the late founder of Iran’s Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini, the Islamic Unity Week is marked every year across the Muslim world. It’s held between two dates of the birthday of Prophet Mohammad: one narrated by the Sunnis (the 12th of Rabi’ al-Awwal) and the other by Shias (the 17th of Rabi’ al-Awwal).
