In a message released on Tuesday, the mayor of Qom Dr. Seyyed Morteza Saghaiannejad has offered his congratulations on the anniversary of the Imposed War and the Sacred Defense Week.
On the eve of September 22, the anniversary of the Imposed War, Dr. Saghaiannejad described Sacred Defense as the national strength and pillars of deterrence of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
He also said that increasing self-belief, building inter-generational culture, creating national unity, collective commitment to the preservation of national resources, borders and assets, and introducing the forgotten capabilities are among the most important achievements of the sacred defense in the domestic arena.
Sacred defense of Iran against Saddam Hussein’s Baath regime transmitted the pure concepts of resilience and fighting against oppression to the liberation movements and the Islamic nations, he noted.
Moreover, the mayor emphasized that eight years of sacred defense is a symbol of resistance, defense and authority of Iran, adding a lot of undeniable victories and developments of the Islamic Republic of Iran is certainly rooted in Sacred defense.
The Holy Defense Week is an annual event held to commemorate eight years of resistance against the invasion led by the former Iraqi dictator who imposed the war on Iran from September 22, 1980 to August 20, 1988.
