Qom Municipality Director General of Coordination and Supervision of Urban Services has announced that waste separation from the source reached 15 percent last year.
Touching upon the urban management plans in the field of waste management, Seyyed Mohsen Mirhadi said more than 700 tons of waste is collected daily from the city of Qom, part of which is related to infectious and hospital waste.
About 350 tons of this waste are now being separated and processed, and another part will be processed in the near future, Mirhadi stated, adding infectious waste is also decontaminated and secured in the incinerator.
He also referred to the municipal programs in the field of dry waste collection, saying in 2014 there were only 13 waste booths in the city of Qom, but the number was increased to 49 booths over a period of 5 years.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Qom Municipality Director General of Coordination and Supervision of Urban Services stressed the citizens’ cooperation in separating waste from the source, waste separation from the source reached 15 percent in 2020.
He concluded that 1,500 sweeper work in the field of urban cleaning in Qom and clean about 25 million square meters daily.
The manager of District five of Qom Municipality had earlier announced that waste segregation from the source grew 9 times compared to 2015.
