The mayor of Qom Dr. Seyyed Morteza Saghaiannejad has admired healthcare community for their unparalleled display of care during the Coronavirus pandemic.
Dr. Saghaiannejad made the remarks in the fifth public meeting of the Islamic Council of Qom which was held on August 23 simultaneously with the birthday of Avicenna and the National Doctor’s Day.
Appreciating the contribution of doctors and medical staff, he said that since the outbreak of the COVID-19, the Qom municipality has constantly cooperated with the healthcare community.
He emphasized the important role the University of Medical Sciences has played during the COVID crisis, adding the Qom municipality has been supporting the university’s decisions to fight the Coronavirus.
The mayor went on to say that we will definitely continue cooperating with the healthcare community and doctors to overcome the Corona crisis.
In Iran, National Doctor’s Day is commemorated on the first day of the sixth calendar month of Shahrivar (this year falling on August 22) marking the birthday of Avicenna, the distinguished Iranian physician, and writer of ‘The Book of Healing’.
Amid the COVID-19 outbreak, physicians and doctors have been recognized for their selfless devotion and efforts this year.
It was reported that since March 25, 164 healthcare workers in the country have lost their lives due to the coronavirus infection.
