Within the ‘Qom on the path of development’ framework, a special Qom card for journalists was unveiled on the National Journalists’ Day in the city of Qom.
Simultaneously with the National Journalists’ Day, the plan to unify media billboards and a special Qom card for journalists were unveiled in the inauguration ceremony of the municipality’s urban, civil and cultural projects that was held today.
The ceremony was attended by Qom governor, mayor of Qom, the chairman and members of the Islamic City Council, provincial managers and the chairman of the Press House and the head of the Islamic Republic News Agency in Qom Province.
More than 20 identical billboards introducing news agencies, news sites and presses have been prepared for installation by the General Directorate of Communications and International Affairs of Qom Municipality and the Beautification Organization.
Furthermore, with the participation of the Information and Communication Technology Organization of Qom Municipality, a citizenship and identification ‘Qom Card’ for journalists, who are the members of the Press House, was unveiled.
The card is expected to provide various services, such as electronic bus payments, and other municipal services for the journalists.
The head of the Information and Communication Technology Organization of Qom Municipality has earlier announced that “Qom card is a multi-purpose card which can widely be used in the fields of transportation and fare payment.”
August 8 has been designated National Journalists’ Day in Iran after Taliban militants in Afghanistan killed Mahmoud Saremi, the correspondent of the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), along with eight Iranian diplomats, at the Iranian consulate in the northern Afghan city of Mazar-i-Sharif in 1998.
