Dr. Seyyed Morteza Saghaiannejad has been reinstated as mayor of Qom for the third time by the Islamic City Council.
In a public meeting of the Qom Islamic City Council on Saturday morning, the Council’s members voted for Dr. Saghaiannejad and recognized him as the Qom mayor for the third time.
Enjoying the 18-year experience, Saghaiannejad is considered the most veteran mayor of the country’s metropolises.
He was elected as the mayor of Qom in 2014 by the members of the fourth term of Qom Islamic City Council and two years later, as the fifth City Council was formed, he remained in his position with 13 votes.
When the sixth Islamic City Council of Qom was formed last week, the members reviewed Saghaiannejad’s performance in his tenure and voted for him to continue his responsibility in Qom municipality.
Dr. Seyyed Morteza Saghaiannejad is the 17th mayor after the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Qom, who has been elected to this position three times by the Islamic Council of Qom.
He was born in Isfahan in 1952 and has 40 years of experience as a member of the faculty of Isfahan University of Technology.
Moreover, Dr. Saghaiannejad has had other managerial responsibilities, including the President of Isfahan University, the President of the Isfahan University of Technology, and the Mayor of Isfahan for 12 years.
