The mayor of Qom Dr. Seyyed Morteza Saghaiannejad says the municipality has given special attention to increasing the quality of people’s life in the second five-year plan, named ‘Qom 1404’.
In the first program, the municipality worked on hardware issues, and in the second five-year plan, the quality of people’s life is the focus of municipal movements, Dr. Saghaiannejad stated on the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony of the recreation and green space projects of Qom Municipality on Wednesday.
When we talk about the quality of people’s life, it means that we have a healthy city, and one of the main foundations of a healthy city is environmental issues and green space, he noted.
Saying about 60 hectares of local and forest parks have been opened or started their operations, he reiterated that Qom’s per capita green space is 20.3 square meters per citizen.
In terms of green space, the city of Qom stands in the third rank after Isfahan and Shiraz and this definitely affects the city’s desirability and beauty, the mayor mentioned.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Dr. Saghaiannejad referred to having proper public transportation as the other factor influencing the quality of people’s life, saying that in this regard, a contract was signed for the purchase of 52 new buses that will be added to the city’s bus fleet in the next 10 days.
Currently, the entire bus fleet is new, and in the taxi fleet, old taxis are going out of service, and this is in fact for the welfare of the people, he added.
Furthermore, the mayor of Qom touched upon providing people’s vitality and happiness, stating that Ghadir Park is now the city’s recreational hub that can entertain people with its water park, amusement park, and artificial lake that is under construction.
He also emphasized that Khezr Park with an area of more than 57 hectares will be opened in the coming weeks, adding it is located in a 1,000-hectare park in which a Télésiège and telecabin will be built; the nature bridge also connects the park to the bird garden.
He finally expressed hope that the plans can be progressed in such a way as to increase the number of pilgrims staying in Qom so that the urban economy can prosper even more.
