The mayor of Qom Dr. Seyyed Morteza Saghaiannejad says Qom municipality has always attempted to gain public trust.
Coincident with the national day of Municipalities and Rural Administration Organization, Dr. Saghaiannejad stressed the importance of earning people’s trust for the municipality.
Elaborating on the municipality’s programs to develop green space, he reiterated that over the past six years, more than 100 urban parks have been constructed, and the per capita green space of Qom increased so much that it became the third metropolis of the country.
He also announced the construction of a 1,000-hectare park in the city of Qom which is unique across the country.
Stating that 35 new parks are to be built by the end of 2021 and its water will be supplied from the treated urban wastewater, the mayor added the municipality plans to build a green belt around Qom to prevent the dust from entering the city.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Saghaiannejad touched upon the urban waste segregation, saying at present, 300 tons of 700 tons of waste are separated daily, and when another line is launched, another 300 tons will be segregated in the next six months, thus waste will no longer be buried in Qom.
With the establishment of the first infectious waste disinfection device, Qom is the only city where hospital waste is disinfected and then buried, he also noted.
Moreover, he referred to the organization of the public transport fleet, expalining that the bus system has been completely renovated and in this regard 180 buses have been purchased, 180 buses have been renovated and 2000 billion rials have recently been allocated for the purchase of new buses.
Likewise, he said that the first phase of Qom metro project will be delivered to the public in the first six months of this year despite the sanctions imposed against the country.
