The head of the Waste Management Organization of Qom Municipality has announced that students increasingly participate in the waste separation plan from the source.
Touching upon the implementation of the student recycling assistants project, Seyyed Abdullah Mirebrahimi said that teaching waste management concepts to students has been on the agenda since the beginning of the organization’s activities in this field.
Mirebrahimi highlighted the need to educate students, saying Qom Municipality Waste Management Organization seeks to increase public awareness and students participation in reducing the waste production and separating it from the source to maintain the health of the urban environment.
Following the implementation of the training courses, students widely welcomed to take part in the waste separation plan from the source, he added.
The municipality official went on to say that the plan aimed at promoting environmental culture among the students and their parents and providing general education in the field of waste recycling.
Referring to the outbreak of Coronavirus which led to the closure of schools, Mirebrahimi stated that teaching the concepts of waste management to students is done through social networks.
Students can take part in competitions and send educational and cultural files and clips on waste management in these training courses, the head of the Waste Management Organization of Qom Municipality noted.
