The mayor of Qom Dr. Seyed Morteza Saghaiannejad has emphasized the need to use all the capacities of Qom municipality to hold Iran’s 13th presidential elections.
Dr. Seyed Morteza Saghaiannejad highlighted the importance of following the principle of neutrality and not having any political orientation or supporting a particular candidate or coalition.
We should try to invite citizens to enthusiastically and actively participate in the elections, Saghaiannejad underlined on the eve of the 13th presidential elections will be held on June 18.
Saying that the elections determine the path of progress and development of the country, he stated that people’s massive turnout in the upcoming elections will both strengthen the Islamic Republic’s legitimacy and make them decide for the fate of their country.
He also underscored the importance of the city’s Islamic council elections, adding the Islamic councils are in fact the intermediary between the citizens and their presence in the field of urban management, and it is through the councils that the citizens can influence the affairs of their city on a large scale.
Qom Municipality is completely ready to provide services to provincial election headquarters, the city’s eight districts, and affiliated organizations in order to increase public participation in the elections, the mayor noted.
Iranians will go to the polls on June 18 to choose a successor to incumbent President Hassan Rouhani. This is the country’s 13th presidential election since the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979.
The 13th presidential election will be held along with three other elections – the City Council Elections, the Parliamentary By-Elections and the Assembly of Expert By-Elections.
