Mayor of Qom Dr. Seyed Morteza Saghaiannejad has extended his congratulations to the world’s Muslims on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of the holy month of fasting, Ramadan.
In his message, Saghaiannejad congratulated the blessed Eid Al-Fitr, saying the celebration calls for a time of forgiveness, self-reflection, and contemplation.
As the month-long fasting comes to an end, we take this time to look back and appreciate the grace we have received as we look towards yet another fruitful year ahead, Qom mayor said.
He also expressed hope that the holy Muslim festivity at the end of the month of Ramadan would be a source of closer unity and solidarity among all Muslims in the world and result in success for Islam in various arenas.
Eid al-Fitr marks the beginning of the lunar month of Shawwal and the end of Ramadan — the ninth month in the Islamic calendar — when Muslims refrain from eating, drinking, smoking, and other corporal pleasures from dawn to dusk.
Along with Iran, other Muslim nations, such as Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Iraq celebrated the festivity on the same day.
It’s the second year in a row that the coronavirus pandemic overshadows Eid al-Fitr celebrations and cancels family gatherings.
