In a message released on Wednesday, Bahram Sarmast, the governor of Qom appreciated firefighters’ efforts to stop the huge fire at a petrochemical plant at Shokuhieh Industrial Town near the city.
Bahram Sarmast referred to the large fire at Movaledan alcohol factory as a terrible accident, saying that the promptitude, timely presence and sacrifices of rescue units properly controlled and extinguished the fire; otherwise, the blaze could have had more irreparable consequences and damages.
Sarmast also acknowledged the efforts of Emergency staff, Red Crescent, Law enforcement units, Industrial Towns Company, as well as Qom Crisis Management Organization that helped to put out the fire.
On Sunday morning, a huge blaze was reported in Movaledan chemical factory at Shokuhieh Industrial Town near the city of Qom.
According to Qom fire department spokesman Hamid Karimi, 20 fire engines and more than 100 firefighters were dispatched to the site to extinguish the huge fire.
Fire Stations and Safety Services Organization affiliated to Qom Municipality managed to stop the fire from reaching alcohol tanks, although two firefighters were seriously injured and two fire engines were destroyed, Karimi added.
