The CEO of the Organization for the Improvement, Renovation, and Beautification of the Shrine of Hazrat Masoumeh (PBUH) described the existence of the shrine of Hazrat Masoumeh (PBUH) and the holy mosque of Jamkaran and the traffic of about 20 million pilgrims in the city of Qom as the factor and driver of the development and improvement of the historical texture and urban decay.
Alireza Khaki made the comments on the sidelines of a specialized meeting on using the lessons learned from the Bam earthquake held in Qom Municipality.
Reviewing the coordinates of the urban decay of Qom, he said that the regeneration of the urban decay of each city and neighborhood depends on the coordinates and characteristics of the same city and region, and necessarily a successful model from one city cannot meet the needs and coordinates of another city or neighborhood.
Khaki considered the existence of the Shrine of Hazrat Masoumeh (PBUH), Imamzadehs, Jamkaran Holy Mosque, ulemas’ houses, and the 7,000-year history of Qom as some most important features of the city of Qom.
At the head of all these factors and the most important driver of development for planning and dealing with the issue of urban decay and historical texture is the annual presence of 20 million pilgrims in the city, he reiterated.
