The mayor of Qom stated that the position of the councils should be determined, saying we must strengthen trust in the city administration and the councils.
Dr. Seyyed Morteza Saghaiannejad made the remarks at the closing ceremony of the joint meeting of mayors and heads of Islamic councils of metropolitan cities and provincial centers of the country.
He stated that 71% of the country’s population lives in cities, and in this regard, the question arises, where is the place of urban management in the 7th development plan?
The mayor noted that decentralization was discussed in this meeting, but in fact, it is a matter of deconcentration.
He went on to add that councils’ powers are decreasing and in this regard, the place of urban management in the 7th development plan should have a separate chapter.
The mayor of Qom highlighted that the provisions of the 7th development plan should be formulated based on the nature of the program, not in the form of solving a temporary problem.
