The mayor of Qom says the enemies are constantly plotting against Iran due to its independence and self-sufficiency, but applying the Quranic teachings has prevented them from succeeding, emphasizing the need to introduce the true face of Iran to the world.
Dr. Seyyed Morteza Saghaiannejad made the remarks in a meeting with Oumarou Dogari Moumouni, Mayor of Niamey, and his accompanying delegation.
Referring to the importance of exchanging experiences in the field of urban management, he said, “This exchange of experiences leads to the gaining appropriate achievements to better serve the people.”
He called for the exchange of information between the two cities and added that Qom city with a population of more than one million 300 thousand people is culturally, economically, and politically equal and in some cases more important and influential than Tehran as the capital of Iran.
Saghaiannejad went on to say that the city of Qom also enjoys the largest seminary in the Islamic world.
The mayor of Qom stated that there are more than 12 universities and more than 600 research centers in Qom; The holy shrine of Hazrat Masoumeh (AS), the Holy Mosque of Jamkaran and the future research center are also located in Qom.
More than 24 million religious tourists come to Qom every year and Qom has more than 7,000 years of historical heritage, he noted.
He considered the relationship between countries in introducing Iran’s potential and culture to the world and asserted, “The relationship between countries has caused the culture and potential of Iran and the city of Qom to be properly introduced to the world and we can share our experiences in this regard.
He also pointed to the presence of the ulema of the Islamic world in Qom, saying Qom is the base of the Islamic Revolution and the center of revolutionary thinkers, and all these privileges have made Qom a cosmopolis and of great importance in Iran and the world as well.
