In a letter, the mayor of Qom Dr. Seyed Morteza Saghaiannejad offered condolences over the 32nd demise anniversary of Imam Khomeini, the revered founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the anniversary of the June 5, 1963 protests.
The full text of the condolence letter is as follows:
“People” is the keyword that the tyrants and their followers have always feared, and by denying the rights and role of the people and considering themselves superior, they tried to maintain and survive the government in order to provide the means of their pleasures and aspirations.
In contrast to this tyrannical thought, the late Imam, knowing the role and rights of the people and its connection with the teachings of Islam, all of which are on the path of human dignity, raised the banner of truth to establish the foundation of a popular Islamic government for a free nation.
Undoubtedly, the 5 June of 1963 was the turning point and the time of the emergence of this thought and the echo of the cry for freedom of the honorable nation of Iran in response to the honorable thought and high goal of Imam Khomeini (RQ), and entering a turbulent and proud period in which the people became aware of what is their right and set foot on the path of defeating the Pahlavi tyranny with the slogan of “It is impossible to accept humiliations.”
